Shoulder Pain Relief in Cherry Hill, NJ

Shoulder pain is a common complaint among adults and is an incredibly complex joint with many moving parts.  More parts means more capacity for movement, hence more opportunities for something to go wrong.  The shoulder is tied into the the arm and the torso, so it's common for back or hand pain to include shoulder issues as well.  Pain can be caused by a number or factors:

  • Arthritis
  • AC joint sprains
  • Biceps tendonitis
  • Cervical radiculopathy
  • Frozen shoulder
  • Impingement of soft tissue
  • Labral tears
  • MDI (multi-directional instability)

Common Causes of Shoulder Pain

Below are some common disorders and conditions that we have successfully treated, giving patients back their mobility and ability to live a pain-free life.

Rotator Cuff

Injury

Rotator cuff injuries are one of the most common causes of shoulder pain.  This can occur when then shoulder is exposed to sudden trauma or from muscle deterioration.  Injuries to the rotator cuff can be a minor irritation to a full tear.  Each scenario requires specialized treatment.

Arthritis

Arthritis pain and inflammation in the shoulder will restrict range of motion and can lead to weakness because of guarding or reduced use. Prolonged restricted movement can lead to frozen shoulder, which would be secondary to the arthritis. It's important to listen to your body and seek help when you notice issues with your shoulder.

Pinched

Nerves

Just like a pinched nerve in your back, a pinched nerve in your shoulder can cause weakness, numbness or tingling  in the arm and hands. A pinched nerve can happen when a mechanical issue throws off proper joint function, or tissue swelling is compression on nerve fibers.

Surgery or medication are not the only roads to recovery.
